WHAT AN AMAZING EVENT!!!
19/05/2009 by Joanna Jacobs
This was my first time at Jacobs Ladder, and I was just absolutely blown away by the incredible talent and acts that were there... First of all those Hoggy Fogtown Boys!!! What Charisma and energy, it was such a pleasure... Also that Band from New York, Just Married.. I loved their Energy and vibe, they had a great and unique sound I really enjoyed them a lot, the Lead singer had a great stage presence, and I felt it was a great way to get the evening started... Jason Feddy was amazing, as well as Mamma Cotton, and even smaller acts that played all over such as HOLLER, we had a great time, and will be coming back for sure in the future!!!! KEEP IT UP!!! and thank you for a wonderful, unforgettable weekend... Joanna
disappointed for the first time

Being a fan of Anglo folk and country music, I have been attending Jacob's ladder for 23years and each time come home feeling rejuvenated. Unfortunately, I canot say the same for this time. Jason Feddy was teriffic, the other country stuff not ma-shehu, and I really didn't enjoy the ethnic music and also Hebrew rock. he is the first time we left early on the Friday night. Hopefully next year's programme will be different.
forgot!!

The foggy hogtown boys... as an aspiring bluegrass fiddler, they were stupendous - without you I'd never have such an opportunity to both hear them and attend masterclasses. Many, many thanks! judy

As a first timer, I was bowled over! Some day I hope you get some interns from the various business programs around the country to learn valuable lessons from your masterful organizing. Uniquely, your festival never loses the original impetus - friendliness, love of music and people (believe me, I know from experience that this is often the first casualty of the challenges of organizing such an event). Not uniquely, the festival faces all the frustrating obstacles all Israeli event organizers have to deal with. There's a LOT to be learned from watching and participating in this bi-annual feat - kol hakavod! Some specific details: Jason Feddy's energies - wonderful! Et Al's performance - I went out of curiousity and was hooked! Just stupendous. Looking forward to hearing more of them. SheRock -- made my day - I've been bopping and dancing along since then. I really enjoyed Judy Cohen's slot in the open stage but missed hearing more of her. Whether performing standards with panache, or her own hilarious and topical songs, I can't tell whether I laugh more at the ones new to me or the ones I know - she is always so refreshing! And speaking of tunes I know -- Sandy Cash is just what the doctor ordered. I was too busy at the festival to buy albums, but I'm going to be ordering quite a few after this weekend!! Many thanks! Only small glitch was one sound employee who seemed not to know how to run the two stages where I saw him working. The massive other sound issues were solved with remarkable speed and skill. Thank you from the bottom of my heart - your new fan, Judy Montel
Beyond Great!

Thanks for another great festival. The atmosphere was wonderful as usual, the organization exceptional and the music excellent. I would like to say that it seems the guests artists from abroad, while certainly talented and entertaining, were no better than some of our local artists. I don't think Just Married had anything over Red Meadow. Sweet Mama Cotton was good, but her band (local) made the show, and she's got serious competition from the She-Rock girls and TRiAD's girl singer. The exception, of course, is Jason Feddy who was by far the best performer of the entire weekend - we'd like to see him headlining on Friday night!
Chapeau to Yehudit and Menachem

That was another great weekend !! My favorite acts are without any doubt Lilac Sheer with Shat Tochner and Tzalool. Hope to hear more of them. It is very incouraging to see that the young generation is getting more and more involved in the folk music scene... They are the real future!! Elaine.
cool weekend

Hi Menachem and Yehudit, Great festival in spite of the chilly evening weather. A little disappointed with the main stage acts as am not a fan of Albanian, Serbian, Kleizmer, Yiddish or Russian folk music. Can we keep it to ANGLO music, this is what makes the festival SO special. (There are many other music festivals with world ethnic stuff - JL is the ONLY Anglo folk festival!!) Loved Mama Cotton and always enjoy Country Roads. I'm afraid the Bluegrass doesn't do it for me, and after 3 years running - can we have a change? Loved all the other acts I saw on the other stages. Dancing was fun and as usual full marks for slick organization. Keep up the good work! Judi
WOW!!

It's with me. It's with me all day, all night and probably for the next month. Immersing ourselves into this musical bath in such an intense and organized manner is exquisite. Kudos for the organization and the sound guys. I am totally enamored of Jason Feddy's guitar and voice. What a star! Thank you for the Tsanchani Brothers, Shomer HaEsh, Alki-Palki , Sweet Mama Cotton and, of course the Foggy Hogtown Boys. We may have been latecomers to the festival but we are ardent supporters. Can't wait till next year. Sweet Mama Cotton is
